Te Ara Kōrako Drive was completed as part of a larger transport infrastructure upgrade at Auckland International Airport, designed to improve traffic flows to terminals and provide an alternative route for heavy vehicles.
A dawn ceremony officially marked the opening of the road to the public in November 2023 which Axell had the pleasure of being a part of.
Axell provided contract administration services for this project including but not limited to Contract start-up, monitoring, issuing of correspondence and Contract close-out.
Fun Fact: The word Kōrako, which means Hawk, was chosen as this was the original name for the area because of the hawks that nested in the area.
